Even if the plugin was so close to the hardware that the price difference couldn't justify buying the hardware.
STEPHEN SLATE VIRTUAL MIX RACK SOFTWARE
I have never heard a hardware vs software shoot where the hardware didn't sound better.
Uploading your session and settings may be useful to some of the more inexperienced engineers here but people were already talking about how they find these plugins in their OWN sessions with their OWN settings That's why users talking about their experiences and what works for them has caused forums like this to become popular and what made the first few pages of this thread interesting What you are doing is the equivalent of EQing a channel that's soloed and I think we all know that's useful only until you hit the solo button again StevenComparing one of the three UAD 1176s to your plugin on some selected audio files playing by themselves isn't "conclusive evidence" though, at all. At which point I pointed out that that's not exactly what he first claimed.Īs for the other stuff, I don't really know what you're talking about. There's really no need to keep talking about how accurately modeled it is or calibrated test because.well you get the point.Clonkified pointed out that there were in fact some harmonics generated in the output stage at which point Steven said there was nowhere near enough distortion to be modeling the HW's output transformer. 90% of everyone here find Uad better, I don't think anything else matter. So should I disregard Clonkified test? Man you been trying to control this thread for a couple of pages now, honestly man. Not only was I pleased with what I heard, I didn't feel like you were being stubborn, arrogant or shoving it down my throat with a temper tantrums saying my plugins are absolutely perfect

I actually think it's great that you are showing people how to use your plugins, but I think you can point us in the right direction as you did with the VBC video. If I had some technical issues sure I'd love your help. If I can only get pleasing results under your tender loving care then I think that is a bit much. I think there should be a straight forward approach to using a plugin with 2 or 3 virtual knobs. That 'may' be the problem, I don't want you to hold my hand while I'm using your plugins. But you aren't making plugins for you only. You designed them so you know exactly how to make them sound best. They maybe labeled dry files, but I don't know what kind of frequency bump or distortion you may have on those files to make you product shine. Even if I participate in this controlled test, I will not be using your files. Steveni think most of us already did these test with our OWN files. I can't imagine that a person who is a UAD user or a Slate Digital user or even just a regular audio engineer with no plugin company gang affiliation that checks out a thread called 'Virtual Mix Rack vs UAD' would not be thoroughly interested in hearing calibrated audio files that offer conclusive evidence about the exact topic.īut as you say, it's best to experience things yourself, which is exactly what you'll be able to do when I upload the exact session and plugin settings that I used to make the files. There's really no need to keep talking about how accurately modeled it is or calibrated test because.well you get the point. Keeping the mystery of all these things the hardware does in certain situations is BS because as I said very few have the hardware.

So there's no way the FG-116 sound indistinguishable from the hardware, plus everyone gave their views on the better sounding plugin. Here's the thing, hardware is better sounding right? The answer is yes. When we try new toys, we pretty much know if there is an improvement or not. I'm not going to keep playing with files over and over until my ears fatigue and I no longer hear a difference.
One of the strengths of Uad plugins for me is the short amount of time it takes to get pleasing results. I'm trying to be supportive, but when someone is being stubborn especially when the verdict is obvious, at some point it becomes something else. He's constantly saying "here's the dry file, here are some screenshots, try it yourself" or even "come to my studio and I'll make you some BBQ while you do some tests for A, what else does he have to do to prove he's not a huckster? So should I disregard Clonkified test? Man you been trying to control this thread for a couple of pages now, honestly man.
Steven is almost literally bending over backwards to provide substantive support for what he says.
